I had high hopes for Metro 2033. I had been following the game prior to release and even thought about purchasing the book. I played through the end of chapter 2 and lost interest. The game is not bad but not very good either. To me (keep in mind I only played the first few level), the game seems like what would happen if Resident Evil, Call of Duty, and Fallout 3 smashed together. That would probably be a great combination but this game doesn't really do any of the genres justice.
The story was well presented and voice acting was very good. I did feel interested in the story. I did think the pacing was slow. At one point in the game I visited a town. All the citizens were talking at once. I couldn't understand any of the comments and it was extremely distracting. It felt like bad AI programming.
Overall, there might be some good content here, but it definitely wasn't in the first 2-3 hours.

i thought it was a really awesome game. the graphics were great. the gameplay was really fun and suspenseful. the only thing i thought was bad was the lack of guns (but gun add-ons kind of made up for it) and the game was really short. i beat the game within two and i was kind of dissapointed about it, but altogether it was a fun and great game 8.5/10
A solid fps though a little underapprciated. Strong gameplay and story line. Could have had a little more free roaming and a choice at the end of the game. Moderatly high replay value with 2 distinct play styles that is either stealthy or kill everything. The game had some room for improvement in the lighting and detection system, but overall a very well done game.
