WOW, this game is amazing. The best graphics on any console hands down. The sound is amazing especially with surround sound on. I have an HDTV and this game displays some of what the PS3 can do when it is in 1080p. The campaign is extremely in depth and it does not even seem like a game, it is more like an interactive movie that you are the hero in. You almost always have a choice between fighting it out with everyone or sneaking by them undetected. The campaign is rather long, but very fun the entire way through. What's cool about this game is that it is set in the not too distant future and is meant to be a modern game, but it has little old school touches like bosses, cut scenes from old MGS games, and it also disses the xbox 360 which I though was hilarious. (youtube mgs4 disc 2) The online is pretty fun, it just takes a little while to get online for the first time because you have to make a Konami and a Game ID. This game deserves no less than a 10 and should be game of the year. Highly recommended. If you can, buy it.
Solid Snake is back in this the 4th installment of Metal Gear Solid. Having never followed the series particularly closely myself, I can’t comment too much on how well it ties everything together, but the game definitely receives high marks in a number of areas. Preloading the game to your PS3 takes about 10 minutes, and in between each Act of the game, you have to do another preload, although those are closer to 3-5 minutes. This will likely become more and more common as we see more and more content packed onto Sony’s Blu-Ray format.
You start out as “Old Snake” - Solid Snake has been subjected to a form of accelerated aging and as a result does not have much time left. He is called upon by an old friend, to go on a mission to take out long-time foe Liquid Ocelot. The first level starts you out in the middle of a warzone between two warring factions. You are welcome to join in the fight with the side that you came into the battle with, but mostly what you will want to do is sneak around skirmishes and get to your objective.
I won’t get too much deeper into the storyline, other than to say you will meet a lot of old friends, some new ones, and in the end the game does a good job of tying up loose ends from all of the previous Metal Gear Solid games.
As for the game play, the game has taken a slight turn away from the controls you may have been accustomed to in the previous Metal Gear games, and it’s not a bad thing. Taking more of an over the shoulder and first person perspective than what you may be used to. You control Old Snake through a variety of missions, sneaking around for the most part using advanced camouflages, weaponry, and even your own remote controlled robot in the form of the Mk. II. There are intense fire fights, crazy boss battles, and all of it is done very well. In games past I personally had a lot of issues with the control scheme, and I can’t think of any point in this game where I was particularly frustrated by what I was (or was not) able
This is no doubt the best game i have ever played in my life, not just on the ps3 but xbox 360 and every other console before then. Truly amazing. Best graphics of any game i've seen. Gameplay is great, and online is also amazing. I love the octocamo and the storyline is very interesting. You won't wanna stop playing. Buy it.
