First I'm a fan of the metal gear series. This game was not bad but not the best in the series. I found this game to be more of a button masher then others I've played. I also found myself wanting a block button. Yes there is a perry system but it doesn't seem to be enough. Maybe it's just something I'm use to but a block or a dodge button would of raise my score for this game
I've played worse games-I just don't remember when

Awful waste of time. As a stand alone game, it's unbelievably bad. As a Metal Gear sequel, it's a travesty.
graphics-pretty decent, but below standard for MG. In game is blocky, cut scenes are nothing to brag about. Stages are pretty bare and uninteresting as far as visuals go.
Music-dub step/japanese techno throughout. Gets a little old, especially considering (again) the quality presented in other MG games
Controls-think ninja gaiden meets...a worse ninja gaiden. The sword play, while interesting, is gimmicky; and becomes extremely repetitive and annoying when you realize you are forced to do the "zamatsu" attack just to defeat any and all enemies quickly AND stay alive (you steal health when the attack is done successfully; basically the only way to survive large battles)
story-all about the fallout from MGS4. Power vacuum left by the Patriots creates conflict masked in weak philosophical ideals and grandstanding. Raiden bounces back and forth in his own axioms, making his development uninteresting and inconsequential.
overall this game is a waste of time. It's painful to play, painful to know it bears the name of an otherwise great series
