I liked Jack(Raiden) when he was first introduced in mgs2 but I was blown away by how much pure fun I had with this game. It is a bit repetitive, has a lot of video and talking scenes, precision in blade mode is key as you move up in difficulty level so practice with the free blade feature early but overall the combat and it's features are very satisfying visually and just to blow off some steam. I'm an action junkie but I personally really enjoyed most of the storyline, although Jack's emotional turmoil makes 1 particular combat sequence rather boring. All that being said I still feel that this game does much more than make up for it's shortcomings, the game hasn't left my console since I picked it up, and I hope to see much more of Jack in the future.
I am sorry but i don't know what Konami was thinking with this metal gear. This series was never about hack and slash it was about stealth and skill. There is no skill required, if you can mash buttons you win. Truly a sad sad turn for this company.

honestly the game had very little to do with the metal gear series. it was more like devil may cry with metal gear bad guys. and snakes SOUL ? really come on now... i won't get into major details about that so as not to bring about a spoiler. if you have never played metal gear before, it might not be a bad game. but coming from a person who lives and breathes metal gear i found it seriously lacking in continuity and was sorely disappointed in the gameplay and story.
