Great story, amazing music, beautiful graphics, fun game play, great camera angels, the only problem I had was the game was so short, I beat it in 3:21 but I loved every secs of it. Near flawless game but still a prefect score.
Honestly, if you remove the story, I'd give Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance an 8. I've played Ninja Gaiden, and other titles like it. I enjoyed running through a level and slicing up my opponents like ham. It's really addictive. Needless to say, I LOVE "Blade Mode" and just slicing up various items in the levels. The game is really short, which is to be expected with these types of games. The only unfortunate part of the game play is the camera and tutorials. I had no idea I could lock onto enemies until I read it on the internet. This was after I had finished the game! But aside from those small complaints, this is a great action game.
So, why did I rate the game a 4? The story. Honestly, through every chapter of the game, I really didn't pay attention to the story. On the occasions that I did, I didn't understand what this game was trying to tell me. Was this simply an extension of the MGS4 story? Except instead of Metal Gears, it's cyborgs? Or is this about Raiden discovering who he really is? Then I arrived at the last level of the game. I don't want to spoil it for you. Though I don't believe you'd be upset if I did. Everything that transpires is all an attempt to put America back on top. The entire boss fight that explains this to you is like reading a college sophomore's essay on American imperialism. As I was playing, I completely lost all interest in the game. After that, I found the final boss fight to be tedious. I really love the MGS series. I knew this wasn't going to have the same game play elements as MGS, but I expected it to have the same type of quality in story as the others did. It just wasn't there.
If you love action oriented games and slicing literally everything in sight, you should definitely play this game. If you love a good story, or adore the Metal Gear Solid series, I would just let this one go.
