I enjoyed the game, all 6 1/2 hours of it. Unfortunately, although stunning to watch, this game fell short on story, memorable characters, and the kind of depth of gameplay that most games can create. The action felt a lot like playing Zone of the Enders, with a free blade mode. Yes, it's cool that we can do this in a game now, but it feels like we never moved from demo mode to full fledged game. Perhaps, if they make another, the next game will feel a little more like a Metal Gear universe game, and less like a hammed up manga comic. I look forward to the next one, and give this one back.
This entry to the Metal Gear series is excellent. Not the stealth ops action we're used to, sure, but that doesn't mean this one isn't fantastic in its own way.
The graphics are amazing, the cutscenes and voice acting are great, and the button controls are tight & precise. Awesome sub-weapons. The "learning curve" for the controls/blocking isn't really as difficult as some have stated, it didn't take me long to figure out.
The game itself is less than 7 hours long, but I think it has a high replay value; I completed the game on Normal, and am currently attempting it on Hard. Getting to keep all the upgrades and weapons to carry over makes it all the better, and fun as well.
All bosses seemed pretty difficult at first, but if you get the dodge move upgrade, it helps tremendously! Get good at that, and they're much less difficult...The final boss battle was quite a pain for me, taking a few hours to finally get through (and more than a few Retries)
All in all, I love this game. Could've been longer, but oh well. Replay value is high, and that makes up for it. I think this one is worth a rent & a buy. Definite 8.5/9 out of 10

It only took me 3.5 hours to beat the game, but I enjoyed my time with it, and if I were more patient, I'd probably play it again to mine all its unlockables.
Cutscenes look great and tell an OK story, interesting but also derivative, and told better elsewhere.
Levels are kind of plain and too straightforward.
For an action game, they try to get you to do stealth, which I don't understand. And for me, the stealth wasn't so great.
As another review said, they don't tell you how to do some basic control stuff. I didn't know you could dodge until I was at the end guy. I also lucked into having my health refills do so automatically.
If you like Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden, this one is worth playing, but just don't expect greatness.
