Metal Arms: Glitch in the system is a fairly solid game which is worth a rental, but not much more. The game centers around a robot named Glitch who is found by a robotic resistance trying to break away from a possible annihilation by an evil robot named General Corrosive and his army, the Mil robots. Overall, the game itself is pretty good, but like most others, it has its flaws.
One flaw with the game is the dated graphics system. The graphics aren't terrible, but there is a lot of clipping, there is a somewhat noticeable lack of VSYNC, and the particle effects in this game are just below what people have come to expect. The controls are also occasionally problematic. Far jumps need a lot of momentum at times when you don't have a lot of room, and aiming in the game sometimes looks like it will hit an enemy, but will hit the wall you are ducking behind and damage you. Damage isn't something you can take either because the game is not easy most of the time. Enemies have a lot of high firepower meaning you must be constantly moving or hiding. It's a bit odd that a game for the adrenaline junkie needs these actions and it just feels too out of place.
The game is hardly all flaws, however, as even though the game is difficult, it still manages to be fun, especially the different methods of taking down enemies. You can blow them up, stun them with EMPs, or simply hack them and take control of them, though the latter requires stealth and is only available about a third of the way into the games 42 levels. The game also provides a lot of entertainment in writing and acting which are usually good for a chuckle or two. If you are looking for multiplayer, assorted battles are available on maps which are unlocked by finding different chips.
Again, overall, Glitch in the System is not a bad game. It has some flaws, but it is a rewarding sleeper title which, while not better than games like Ratchet and Clank, holds its own against other games.
