I have to say this is one of those games that you don't have to have high expectation from. It could be just the game you have fun with, going around and blow things up. That said it doesn't really do that well. You get a few bangs for your buck, but really it feels like a dumbed down SOCOM game where you have a thousand time more health than the enemy. That could be fun, but the graphics aren't just below ps3/xbox360 standards they seem stiff and more like they developed it for ps2 and ported it. Getting around is a pain and really unless your bored out of your skull and have hours upon hours to kill give this one a pass.
For months now, I have been hoping for a game that took what CoD4 did and take it a little further. My first hope was with Battlefield Bad Company, which was quickly dashed when I realized how truly boring it was. The same is to be said of Merc 2. It is not bad to look at and the game world itself is rather large. That's where the compliments end though. All of the vehicles handle like rolling bathtubs, the missions are very repetative and quite unamusing after the first half hour. Also, the voice acting wasn't too bad but it was far too repetative as well. The weapons in the game look rather flat and they sound almost as flat. The physics are also way off (Sending someone flying in the air a few stories because I shot them with a machine gun turret for instance). Overall, it was an ambitious game but it didn't live up to the hype. The most entertaining part about Merc 2 is the catchy rap jiggle in the commercial.
The storyline was pretty good but there's just to many glitches and flaws in this game. I can sometimes join people on coop multiplayer and can never connect with friends I've tried everything with my connections with no dice. I don't think I'd rent it again and def wouldn't buy it.
