Game 1- The first mega man zero had good gameplay and story, but unfortunately it's age really showed. The physics felt choppy at times, The cyber elf system wasn't really useful, and the music wasn't that good. Despite this the first installment is still good.
Game 2- This one showed a lot of improvement over the first game. The physics were fluid, the weapons were improved, the story was much more interesting, and it felt like more of a challenge than the first game. However, I found the ranking system to be unfairly difficult, and the elf system was just as useless as it was in the first game. It was a great game with some major flaws.
Game 3- Again an improvement over the second game the story was more engaging, the rankings system wasn't as unforgiving as in the previous installment, and the gameplay felt even more fluid. The only real problems I have with this game is that the elf system is still just as useless, and the bosses weren't that great. besides that it's a really great game.
Game 4- This is my favorite in the series, it had a very unique weapon that let you take a generic enemy's weapon, the story was great (although it felt preachy), The weather mechanic was great way of obtaining EX-skills, The cyber elf system finally had purpose, and most of the bosses were really good(with some exceptions).
I seriously recommend this to anyone who likes the 2-D plat former genre.

However being a huge fan of the original X series I couldn't get into the metroidvania style of gameplay.
