Megaman battle Network 6. A lot of complaints from professional reviewers come in that it's the same as the other installments of the series and I'll be the first to admit this is true. If you have never played a Battle Network game I suggest you start with 3 and come back to 6 if you like it.
So basics aside how is the game. For all of you battle Network fans who like me hated the fourth installment this game redeems itself. The new features are the Cross System and BeastOut. Crossing basically makes megaman combine with another character and gain their abilities (and weaknesses.)The Cross system is smooth and works very well allowing you to choose ding any battle what kind of strategy you want to employ. The BeastOut system is when megaman releases this extremely powerful beast inside of him. The beast out system is powerful and very fun to play with, but because it only lasts 3 turns it feels short lived.
The plot line is decent, but nothing that would impress an RPG fan. Graphics are fairly plain and sprite based and battle isn't particularly shiny. However, battles are exciting encounters that force you to use your brain as well as the abilities in game (battles are in real time interrupting by breaks where you can get new chips.) Boss battles leave something to be desired as they are fairly simple if not longer then a normal battle.
Overall the game has it's own unique flavor. If you like the idea of running around a grid in real time and shooting down viruses then you will love the game. And if you've already played a Megaman Battle Network game this will be more of the same. I give it an 8 and suggest it to anyone who likes the Battle Network series or wants to try something new.
