Mazes of Fate is Great!

Mazes of Fate was worth the wait to get.

PRO: The mazes were fun and there are many secrets to find. Going through the mazes is like the old Atari style dungeon games only with much better graphics. I like the fact that you can choose and create your own character as well. I would rate this as a good Final Fantasy/Zelda style game, somewhat easier but still good enough to keep your attention. If you decide to play this more than once through you can change your character and have a different (marginally) game.

CON: You need to refer to the maps often as it is really easy to lose yourself in the mazes. Some of the battles are tough but once you gain more xp points they become easier. There is a lot of back and forth adventuring. Covering ground you have already been to several times. Personally this does not bother me, but it may bother others.

I spent about 24 hours on this game total, then decided to purchase it myself. I understand that the developers are talking about a possible sequel available for the Nintendo DS. I am looking forward to that as well, if it is as good as this has been.

But it could have been worse too, though I can tell you honestly that I didn't make it past the first little dungeon, if you want to call it that.

The game had a lot of potential, it looked like it could have been Wizardry from the GBA but instead it turned out to be every other old school RPG from those days, low in quality and lagging in speed. At many points in the game it would skip and hop, leaving me wanting to play something else as I waited for my character to make it to the other side of the small town.

All in all, it isn't the greatest of games from what I have played of. The controls aren't that fluid and the characters aren't that exciting. Stay away from this one here, unless you have some time to kill and frustration to spare.
