This review is spoiler free.
This is by far one of the most amazing, mind-blowing games I have ever encountered. If you're hesitant about playing because you heard about the ending, don't be. I did, but I bought it anyway, and I'm glad I did. Even if you aren't quite ready to finish the ending, and I know some who still haven't, you can toy around with multi.
Firstly, if you've played ME1 and ME2, then you get to see all the characters you have come to love. Each character has become so much different than they were when you first meet them. The decisions your Shepard makes molds the character's views and attitudes. You get to make them life-like and you begin to feel these characters are part of your every day life. This is part of Bioware's excellent writing team. All characters, even yourself, are individuals.
While at times, the story line might have you confused, it is merely trying to challenge you. After completing this game three times, I have begun to realize things about the plot that I didn't quite get the first time. It's things like that that make you sit back and appreciate all the hard work the writing team put into creating this game.
The graphics are beautiful and very life-like. When Shepard smiles, you can see the wrinkles appearing around her face. Bioware paid a lot of attention to the details.
The only thing I was not happy with about this game, like many other people, was the ending. While I did not mind so much that the choices were practically the same when you spend three games living up to the consequences of the choices you make, I did mind the fact that, blatantly, the game was just... over. I spent the last few years with these characters, and finally I felt like I was loosing my friends when the credits begin to roll. There is no confirmation on who lives or dies, or how their lives proceed after the game. That's what truly bothers me.
