Mario Power Tennis for Wii Reviews by Gamers

Why anyone would waste their time playing this over Wii Sports Tennis... got me.

The mechanics are, in a word, brutal. Unless you have an ADD kid who likes lots of blinky lights, and you need to distract them for a few hours while you do your taxes, this game is worthless.

Seriously, why can't Nintendo BUILD on Wii Sports Tennis??? You'd figure they'd have like "Roger Federer Butt-Kick'n Tennis" or something like that by now, where you can hit AND move, more complex shots, longer game, etc.... No, instead we get the usual Nintendo character love fest game that covers lack up of playability with cutsie graphics and anime moves.

I've been a fan of Mario and the gang since his debut on Donkey Kong (I'm dating myself here) and used to spend hours playing Super Mario Bros on my SNES.. I now spend just as long playing Mario Kart. I was excited when I first rented Mraio Power Tennis, and loved it so much, I ended up just buying it from Gamefly. At first, the controls w/the remote (the nunchuck can be used too for added character movement) are similar to Wii Sports Tennis, but once I got the hang of the different kinds of shots, I liked it better than Wii Sports. And the ability to use the different Mario characters that we all know and love is a bonus. There are different courts from the world of Mario that can be played on to keep things interesting, and the mini games are fun. The Power Shots are a pain because the game will stop every few shots for the character's Power Shot of choice to appear and deliver, but that's easy to turn off.

All in all, a great game!
