Mario and Sonic has a great opening sequence and I liked how they honored the Olympic games that are in Beijing next year. It was fun to see the characters match up against each other from the two different franchises.
Many of the games seemed forced to adapt to the wii remote. Games that are made by Nintendo never feel like this. This game was made by Sega. It had the same awkwardness as Sonic and the secret rings. I got the game for multi player fun but most of the sports were done just one player at a time. True multiplayer fun allows all four players to play at the same time. The only sports that allowed this was swimming and running. I did enjoy the trampoline. That was fun to do all the fun tricks in the air.
I had a fun afternoon with the game and the family on Thanksgiving. Beyond that I would never buy the game for I saw little replay value. Most of us were bored after the first little while. The multi player was fun and the missions were fun but they were way too easy. For a system that is known for its party games you can find much better games with much better replay value than Mario and Sonic. The forced wii movements go along with games like Playground and Carnival Games.
