Above Average

Decent but not as good as I'd hoped...

Graphics:

I'm sorry to say but 2k kind dropped the ball with this. The animations are glitchy like runners going 5 feet out of the baseline. Also the running/fielding animations aren't very good. Otherwise this is decent

6/10

Game play:

The game play is both excellent and awful. The hit stick takes quite a while to get used to but once you do it becomes an excellent system to use. If you don't like it classic mode is still available. The fielding is the same as last year except the robbing home runs is more difficult it seems. Overall the game play is well... average.

Sound:

The best aspect of this game. The pre-game is like a live radio show. The in game commentary is great. not much more to say other than the game sounds are authentic.

9/10

Presentation:

The menus do look very generic this year no moving back ground unique to what team your coaching. In game though it gets slightly better. It is a big loss that ESPN is no longer involved so I will cut them some slack.

7/10

Overall:

This is a great rental but not worthy of a purchase.

When I heard that EA Sports had lost the rights to the MLB franchise, I was pretty upset. Now, I feel as if I have more reason to be upset! This game wasn’t what I expected it to be at all and even though this might be because I am so used to MVP, all in all the game is still pretty bad.

Notes
Note that before you read this my experience was on the PS2, so any Xbox gamers may have different experiences.

Graphics:
Graphic wise the game is decent, it really does a good job of showing the correct bodies of all the players, but the faces seem terrible for some reason. I am not a big fan of the way the models have poorly created faces, but I can see past that. What I cannot see past is the lack of animation in this game and that causes it to get boring after a good minute of play. I played the game for a good hour and I wanted to shut it off so bad, but at the same time I didn’t want to lose to the Red Sox. So I give the graphics 6 out of 10.

Game play:
The game has pretty solid game play and that is the best feature in my opinion. The reason I say this is because the buttons are pretty easy to figure out, but sometimes it gets annoying because of all the settings you have to deal with for your controllers. It can be a bit of a mess making sure that the settings are just right for you (I personally do not like the swing stick, but it has its perks as an excellent feature). Game play gets 7 out of 10.

Audio:
It is pretty hard to mess up sound effects, so I am going to give that a perfect 10 out of 10, but the audio commentary is very annoying. They are not into any of the games at all and talk as if this is the most unexciting sport in the history of athletics. Honestly, don’t you think they could have found better sport announcers to handle the announcing, please MVP come back to me! I give the audio commentary 2 out of 10, giving the audio a decent 5 out of 10.

Overall Enjoyable:
The game overall is not that enjoyable (at least in my eyes), so I didn’t

I myself am a MVP guy but with the new deal with MLB must play other MLB games. I have played both games and I must say that MLB 2k6 is the worst of the two. The game play is much slower than that of MLB '06 and the graphics are even worse. The standard rosters look like they are from 2005 with no off season trades or free agent moves. There is no new Busch Stadium for the Cardinals. For a game claiming to be the most realistic, that it is not. Go with MLB '06 THE SHOW.
