There are several red flags about this game when it came out. First off, it is priced at $40, not the usual $50. Second, the language at the back of this game describing the features is almost identical to the previous versions. And third, there’s very little mention of anything new in this version of Major League Baseball on the Wii.
For anyone who’s looking for a reinvention or an improvement over the last few installments, you’re out of luck; this game plays almost exactly the same at those versions, the controls are the same as before, the commentary is just as lacking and repetitive, there’s no new modes of play and the graphics have not improved very much since 2K8 (that’s four years ago.)
Still, the controls work very well (especially the pitching set up which makes it easy to hit the corners with pitches), and I got some enjoyment out of playing the Season Mode or the Tournament Mode.
But I got the same satisfaction from the past two installments of this game, and I can get either one of those for less than this version.
Hopefully next year when the WiiU is out, there will be a much improved baseball simulator that’s worth the price. Major League Baseball 2K12 is not that game. SKIP IT.
