No pretty graphics, but features rich!

The game itself is ugly! BUT, if you into managing and/or stats, this is the game for you. In previous days I purchased and rid myself of MLB10 The Show for the PSP, (see review). This game has all the makings of a great game if only the commentary wasn't so drab and repetitive. The graphics are something akin to DS pixels and are bloated and silly. But the game is solid as far as the fundamentals go. There are a lot of fun modes to participate in and there is a nice VIP box to toy around with. Pitching and hitting seem a bit slow but responsive. It almost feels like there is a moment lapse between plays and screen switches, but it is not so bad to become annoying. The soundtrack is great! I wish this edition included the "My player" mode that the consoles have. That would have made this game an 8. This year in portable baseball will find most fans at odds with these games. Fans of the MLB The Show will more than likely be disgusted at the loss of features and total lack progression for the franchise. I think if given an opportunity most will be unimpressed with 2k10's visuals, but come away appreciative of all it offers beyond looks.
