Fun little Mafia jaunt, except...

This is not really a GTA-type game even though it looks like it on the surface. There's a lot of driving between objectives in missions, but there are no sidequests.
The characters and voice acting are both well-done. The facial capture is pleasant to the eye. The story is typical dull mafia stuff, but it picks up steam in the second half (around Ch. 7).
The cover shooting works surprisingly well. The controls are sort of like Uncharted, but not quite as tight. It's such a relief after the garbage controls of the GTA games.
The main negative in the game is the constant driving. You have to drive 3-5 minutes to get to an objective and it's usually on the other side of the map. Then after the mission, you stupidly have to drive back home. I guess this is supposed to let you do some exploring, except there's not much to explore. The city is gorgeous, but there's nothing to do in it! I'm not going to spend five hours for collectibles. Maybe if they upgraded your skills, but they're only Playboy and wanted posters.
I forgot the worst thing: the city feels like a police state! This game wants you to drive interminably long distances, then there are police cars every two blocks. They come after you for speeding and hit & runs - it's pretty easy to lose them, but obnoxious when you are trying to get home (again).
I finished in about 13 hours without going out of my way for collectibles. If they had put some decent side missions in there, they could have stretched the gameplay length a lot. It's perfect for a rental.
