Madagascar 2 left me unimpressed. The Animation and modeling is weak. The sound mix is terrible and at times the voices are drowned out by the effects or the music. The controls over compensate to the point where having the characters make slight turns is impossible.
The game is a just a series of mini games played out as you follow King julian from place to place. Such as catch 3 butterflies, close 6 suitcases, win a race. The mini games are so simple, that only the youngest of players will find them difficult. Once you get to the progressing levels, you find a mix of floating platforms, ropes, stairs, etc to jump around and get to the eventual goal. All the while, the level is interrupted with more mini games you must win to progress.
The game was buggy as well and caused my PS2 to lock up on more than 1 occasion.
This Movie-Game tie in has become standard fare nowadays. This one is bad. And it seems very rushed to market to coincide with the release of the film.
My 9 year old was bored immediately.
My 6 year old thought it was cute, but the bad controls made her very frustrated.
As an adult, I was not interested after the 1st 3 minutes.
We returned the game to Gamefly after less than an hour playing.
My suggestion, skip this one unless you a die hard fan of the film (even then you'll probably be unimpressed).
