MVP Baseball for PSP Reviews by Gamers

The reason I got Gamefly was to rent all 4 of the baseball games out for PSP, find the best one and buy it. I rented 2 of them, then this one. I only have MLB left but I'm taking it off my Q and buying this one tonight. It is by far the best one.

"MLB The Show" was OK but way to hard to hit in the game, and "2K6" was so bad I sent it back after one night.

"MVP Baseball" is just what I wanted. A game that makes it very easy to hit the ball on Rookie mode. I don't want to struggle playing these games, I don't want to train my eye, I want to smack baseballs like a pro and get high scores. This game lets me do that.

It takes a little longer to load than the other 2 I rented but the game play makes it well worth the wait. Looks great, the play by play guys aren't the worst, the music sucks though.

Lots of extra stuff I'll never use.

I continue to be amazed at the realism of the sports games available for the PSP and the graphics for MVP 06 are astounding.

The three analysts' comments are very good and (believe it or not) actually funny sometimes in game-specific situations. One great thing is the ability to pitch from the pitcher's point of view (you have to switch perspective each inning on EA's sim). Each player comes with a trading card with about 8 pages of info ranging from career stats to season stats to his level of satisfaction in various areas during the season. All the stadiums are authentic (but it'd be nice to be able to unlock some classic parks -- and players). The gameplay is very arcade-like and user-friendly.

My few criticisms are: Baserunning is really difficult w/multiple runners; it'd be great to control fielders' throwing strength (like EA allows you to) and the career mode is befuddling once you try to actually play a game (I only get the option of simulating games -- is it just me?). It would also lend a touch of realism if you could actually see the pitchers warming up in the pen (instead you just get their warm-up status). It was a nice try to come up with something different for the skills contest. Unfortunately it resembles a crazy game of "Baseketball." Very weird.

It's gonna be hard to top this one, but I'd love to see EA try if it comes up with a College Baseball title for the PSP in '07.
