Needless to say, there have been several new releases since MVP '05 since it is now 2007, but I'm still playing this one with updated rosters. I go all the way back to Tony LaRussa Baseball for PC, and have played them all. The game play is so intuative and smooth, Franchise mode very deep, home run derby, pitching practices, endless other toys. Where this one stands out is the most important..gameplay. The pitching meter is easy to use, but challenging enough on higher settings to make it interesting. Hitting is based on timing, and again straigh forward enough, and fun to use. Bunting, power stroke and drag bunt all intuitive, and easy to use.
You don't have to push ten buttons at a time to play this game. If you want to steal, one button; lead off, one button, fielding, running, advancing the runner, double plays, all made simple...not easy, simple.
You have the Major club, AAA, AA, and A teams to manage, and nurture until they're ready for the show. Get rid of the high priced vet, bring up the kid you've been training in the minors, and keep going.
This one has it all, and is still the best Baseball sim out there.
If your frustrated with the new ones, get this. I still haven't put it down.
