In MTV Music Generator, the title says it all. You make music. The game has over 3,000 samples that you can put into your song. The game is good, and might test your creativity skills a bit. At first, I pretty much did the most basic, boring songs. I just put a bass, then added some drums, then some riffs, etc. But as I got the hang of it, I started putting way more sounds together to actually make good music and I used the effects to make it sound different. It's fun, but there's only so many sound samples...
The problem with this game is that you can't really make music in a way. What I mean is, you can't actually make different notes, with a background noise. You have to use one of the sample sounds they give you. Most of them don't have a different note in them. At the most, they're just lower or higher, but not note-wise. The game gives you 10, or 12 sample songs. You click on one to use that style of music. All 3,000 samples aren't all in one. It's more varied out with like 400 in each style. That's another minus. It gives you less possibilites.
You can make your own melody and drum beat. Drum beat is fine, but it can't last for more than one bar. So it might be difficult to make a drum beat that lasts longer than one bar. The melody in a way, can KIND OF make a note, but as I said before, you can't really make music. Sure, it gives you the A,B,C,D,E,F, and G, but not in different octives. And you don't have that many sounds to put into those notes, you know?
One useless feature is the "Rip" feature. In this, you can take a part of a song in your Xbox hardrive and put it into the game. Here's the stupid part. It can only last like 1-6 seconds. And good luck seperating the song with a 6 second bar. It's extremely hard to get it on the exact second every time. It's not precise!! ;)
Anyways, those are the cons of the game. You should still have fun with the game for a while. At least 2 weeks! It's still fun to make music, those are just the downsides.
