Basically the same game as the PSP 07 version. weak use of the ps3 power. After one game you have heard all of the commentary. Why can't they record more so that it doesn't bore you to play a whole game? Online should be you as a player and position as opposed to a whole squad. That would BE WILD> Call of Duty style.
By far the biggest issue to complain about would be the collision detection, and why it only gets an 8 from me. Slide into second base to try to break up a double play and literally pass right through the defender. Running down a foul ball in the outfield only to pass through the walls into the bleachers/bullpen. And then throw the ball back in from no man's land. Haven't experienced trying to run over a catcher at the plate yet, but I doubt I'll see a Rose/Fosse type collision. Very disappointing and really detracts from what is otherwise a great game.
Road To The Show: Only complaint here is you are limited in how you spread your initial stats around. Can only up a stat 5 points in any one category. Unrealistic IMO. I started a career as a catcher, and while I don't really care about speed, or even batting statistics. I wanted to put as much points on Blocking, Fielding, and Arm Strength. Sorry, only up each one 5 points.
After playing this game, I have come to the conclusion that the ps3 can be a next generation console. Mlb 07 was in many ways disappointing and I had trouble getting into the game. The main reason for this was the fact that there were many glitches in mlb 07. In fact, I started to think that 08 would be no different. Mlb 08 is not completely glitch free but, you will not even notice them due to the fact that this years version of mlb the show is so detail oriented. Of course most of the features are similar to last years version, this doesn't mean that you will get the same experience. As soon as you start playing mlb 08, you will see that the creator's really payed attention to all of the criticism the mlb 07 recieved. Mlb 08 looks and feels so real that you will wonder how next years version will top it. The feature that make this game shine apart from the many phases of detail, is the batter vs. pitcher duels. The pitching in mlb 08 is a work of art and the homerun hitting is amazing. The fan reaction is crazy. When I hit my first foul ball into the stands, I couldn't believe my eyes because the fans actually reach for the ball. The atmosphere is great. overall after playing mlb 08, I can say that mlb 08 the show is by far the best baseball game on the market yet. The price is truely worth the results that you get.
