MLB 10 The Show Almost Perfect

If you were a fan of last years version then you are a fan of this years version. MLB 10 The Show, although not a vast improvement, is still the best baseball game ever made. Graphically it looks the same and the gameplay feels the same, but with the addition of new animations and many other little things, it's a must play game.
One of my pet peeves were some of the small details that were not in MLB 09. Things like no pitchers sitting in the bullpen, the catcher not throwing off his mask on pop flies he can catch. These things have been updated and create a better, deeper game that is becoming a standard for authenticity in sports video games. Another great addition is the ability to warm up the pitcher on the mound when he comes in. You get 8 pitches to get a feel for his style, types of pitches, and animations. This really allows you to get comfortable with your reliever before he comes in to close out a game.
I really do enjoy the addition of the HR Derby. Although it's pretty mindless it does lend itself to playing some quick baseball without investing an hour or so into a real game.
Another layer of depth that I have enjoyed is the sounds of the show, where you can import your own music into the games. This allows the ability to mirror the actual sounds that you hear at the stadiums, giving the sensation of being at a real game. I have not played with all the options but it's amazing to hear "Go Cubs Go" when I win a game.
Not all is well though. The online is still suffering from some lag, and this could be a opening day problem. Let's hope that they can iron out the online, because when they do then MLB 10 The Show may as well be perfect.
