I am so sick of games like Madden and, unfortunately now, MLB The Show, taking the easy way out by just doing the bare minimum to update their title for the next season. This game is EXACTLY like MLB 08 and MLB 09 with updated rosters and new batting stances only. The game play is exactly the same, the announcers say the exact same boring as before and still repeat a handful of comments THOUSANDS of times..
Also, new to 2010, there is a lag issue that happens randomly in the middle of a pitch coming at you while you are batting. This glitch makes it impossible to hit the pitch and you just have to hope its a ball. If they spent time correcting all of the other problems, this wouldnt be such a big issue. But, yet again, there are serious issues with scoring and stat keeping that, after years of complaints, have still not been addressed. This has been a problem since the very first MLB Show, and the lack of addressing these issues show that the studio just doesnt care.
While this years RTTS (Road to the Show) allows for an unprecedented amount of options to speed up or slow down game play, you would think they might make an option to not have to call EVERY SINGLE PITCH as the catcher. Yes, you heard me right. If you decide to be a catcher, you will NOT be able to skip to your next career players event. Even if you select the "None" option for defensive plays, you are still forced to call each pitch. So, with 4 seasons invested, I got pigeon holed into the catcher position and now can not switch to a secondary position. Needless to say, this is the most frustrating thing I think I have ever encountered when it comes to a video game and has ruined the franchise. I will NEVER PLAY ANOTHER MLB the Show.
