One of my all time favorite games! For me it's not a regular Mario game. The game is set up around a haunt mansion, which Luigi won from a contest he didn't even enter. Mario was going to meet Luigi there but he went missing! Now Luigi has to clean out the mansion that is run by ghosts and save his brother!

Even though this is a game cube game, this is hands down the best game for the game cube. That means you don't want to rent it! BUY IT!!

Its safe to say that Marios younger brother has been in the shadows much too long, evidently Nintendo thinks so too, since Luigi has gotten his own game exploring those shadows. No longer playing second banana to Mario, Luigi breaks away from the platforming trend to the horror genre. Someone must have felt sorry for Luigi since he has won a mansion! He has called his brother to come meet him at his new prize. But when Luigi finally gets there, Mario is nowhere to be found. Deciding to explore by himself, Luigi stumbles across the paranormal activity for the first time. As a strange man appears capturing the ghost, calling himself Prof. E. Gadd, he invites Luigi into his lab giving him the right equipment to become a professional ghost buster including the Polterguist 3000, the ultimate ghost sucker. Going back into the mansion, Luigi plans to use his vacuum to save Mario, but in his way are the many portrait ghouls, 50 boos, and countless rooms of challenges. The mansion isn't a cliche cluster of rooms either, they're rooms that you might find in a real palace, such as the dining room and the butlers quarters. I must say they all look fantastic, and the mansion isn't the only thing that looks fantastic, the ghosts all look great too, but the real topping is Luigi himself has so much detail- his vacuum hose wiggles when he walks, he gets startled whenever a ghost appears. He even whistles the main theme, which, while the music is memorable, there needs to be more. It all fits in with the spooky feeling, but there are only a few tracks. Luckily though, this game will not get boring, every room brings new content to it. Every portrait ghost has a different objective so you can suck it up. they even throw in elements that the polterguist can blow at things. But, just as the formula starts to get stale, the game ends. Leaving you with about 7 hours of gameplay for the main quest, but there is TONS of treasure to collect that will extend the game for about 3 playthroughs.
