Lord of War follows the life of Yuri Orlov, a Russian arms dealer, in a provocative look at greed, money, and morality based on true events. The film begins in the early '80s, when Orlov (Nicolas Cage) decides to leave his restaurant job and become an arms dealer. He starts out supplying mobsters in his Little Odessa neighborhood with guns. The rush of the cash is addictive, and Orlov quickly becomes hungry for bigger deals with bigger scores. As Orlov relishes in all the excess of the 1980s, he eventually marries a famous model and teams with an African warlord. When a relentless Interpol agent (Ethan Hawke) begins dogging him, Orlov, for the first time, begins to question the nature of his work.
