“Lollipop Chainsaw” is — in a word — excessive. But in a good way.
Gratuitous upskirts, frequent F-bombs, zombies spewing derogatory terms for lady bits and explosions of rainbows and hearts are all parts of what make “Lollipop Chainsaw” stand out from the typical zombie games.
“Lollipop Chainsaw” is by no means the best game ever, but it fulfills the most important quality of any video game: fun. It’s refreshing to find a game that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
Lollipop Chainsaw is of course about Juliet the middle starling sister. She (and her whole family) are zombie hunters (and other monsters as hinted in the game). So that's pretty much the back story without giving up details that make the storyline.
Most people probably bought this game because of the hot 18 year old cheerleader in a skimpy skirt and ya might as well say a training bra haha. But I bought it to hack up zombies... I could care less what the heck she is wearing as long as there are zombie heads flying.
Some of the things I did not like about the game are that I did not think that the "moves" worked into your fighting very easily, others may think otherwise, The game was way to easy... I am currently playing on hard and it is still too easy. However although the game is easy the game is totally fun and should be given a shot.
The Good: Let me start off by saying that I did enjoy this game. Who doesn't love chopping up zombies? I also, enjoyed the story of a born and raise zombie hunting cheerleader who comes from a zombie hunting family. The graphics were good and combo attacks looked stunning as zombies were decapitated with rainbows and sparkles. Oh, and my favorite, you can unlock a bunny suit for Juliet and kill zombies as a giant chainsaw wielding bunny.
The Bad: Its not a very hard game. I've played through it several times and the only thing that seems to change with difficulty is the amount of lollipops you're allowed to carry and the number of zombies that pop up, but boss fights are the same no matter what level of difficulty you play on. Also, the timing between button press and action is off noticeably and most of the time the homing button does not work at all, which is funny because at one point your sister calls and tells you to use it more.
The Okay: The dialogue through out the game varies from laugh out loud funny to what the F and then to just crude. It's the typical humor that can be seen in other games like No More Heroes and Shadow of the Damned. It's not bad, but the type of humor that gets funnier as maturity levels go down.
All in all: It's great if you like killing zombies and enjoy unlocking loads of outfits to play dress up with. I would recommend renting or borrowing the game before buying it because buying it if you don't love it will lead to hard core buyer's remorse.
