The negative reviews all state repetitive gameplay, which makes no sense. While the first two levels (one of which is an intro) are similar, the rest (only 6 in all) have you doing crazy things like driving combines over zombies on a farm, skating over rooftops, playing through levels made like Atari games, and so on.
If that's "repetitive," than any game made today is repetitive. That means COD is just shooting people over and over, and Dragon's Dogma is just killing monsters and walking around. I mean get real, play a game for hour before to give it a low score!
As for my review = this game is fun if you don't take it seriously. It's meant to be silly, and meant to NOT be a high production game. Like the movie Evil Dead, it's fun because it's not perfect.
It's a game wanting a cult following, and it has one. It's a game girls can cosplay too and everyone will recognize the character. It's a game focused on creative art, rather than flashy art. The author is famous for his previous games (movies have even been made based on them) and this one ties right into what I was expecting from him.
Like a B-movie, you have a prissy Valley Girl, who has no problem hacking zombies to bits, and later you find out it's a family tradition. Her boyfriend acts as the outsider who needs everything explained to him (which in turns explains it to us -Han Solo style). The plot is very Japanese (completing circular rituals to bring about the end of the world -Full Metal Alchemist), but takes place in California. Sounds a little bit like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but it's different enough to be it's own thing. Finally the art is done in a comic book style.
This all meshes together to make one of the more unique games I've played in a long time. While the graphics are not Skyrim, the game is silly, fun, and comical.
It's not like there's anything else to play right now, so enjoy the game, and enjoy the Cosplay from it at all the gamer events coming up!

I had read some negative reviews, but decided to give it a shot anyway. Man was I disappointed.
Pros: some funny dialogue
Cons: everything else.
I expected it to at least make up for lack of anything plot or storyline by just making it a fun hack 'em up game. Nope! Combos weak to look at (so much potential when dealing with zombies), the headless guy was dumb, and you can play through the entire game in about 6 hours (normal). Video and soundtrack is weak as well. Could they have at least put some good music in the game!
What a fun game, all kinds of combos to fight the bad guys with, lot of variety in the battles, lot of little puzzles within the game. And what could be better then chainsawing a bad guy in half only to have rainbows burst out of the wound. The game actually makes fun out of itself ( why zo zerious ), but its really a lot of fun to play, BUT, there is always a but it seems, the length of the game was surprising, seems like i was just getting up to speed, if it was a longer game i'd probably buy it, I can only hope there will be DLC's showing up for the game soon.
I'm actually going to go back in and do another run through while waiting for next game to arrive.
Definitely a game you don't want to miss, its crazy how clean and shiny they can make death by chainsaw
