While it's simple to build smile inducing contraptions, the game's harsh physics engine rules out the kid's market -- one it's clearly striving to reach. This miscalculation alienates people who are looking to create something darker, or at the very least, something not involving an adorable sack person.
With that said, the game is fantastic for marketing, however, It's also just not intuitive enough for the casual, and not meaty enough to satisfy the hardcore. With a lacking single player experience There's just no way I can recommend this game, at this time.
Hopefully, the sequel will have better results.
