You start out as a boy who lives with his sister Aryll, and his grandmother on Outset Island. In the beginning of the game, Aryll gets kidnapped by a large bird and you set out on a pirate ship to search for her. Along the way, you will acquire different items, meet new people, and even stop to play a minigame or two. You will also see some of the enemies from OOT, including Redeads, Darknuts, Moblins and even Ganondorf.
The over-all gameplay really surprized me because it actually wasn't much different from the gameplay in OOT or MM for the N64. You still have the unique lock on ability, which makes fighting MUCH easier. After hearing the awesome story of the game and after you start playing it and getting into it, you wont even remember you are playing a toon-shading type Zelda game. This game brought back so many memories from the old Zelda games, with the same sounds, music and the same great story. I would recommend any Zelda fan to rent and/or buy this game, you WONT regret it.

Good: A lot to do, very addicting, nice twist in the story.
Bad: Can get confusing at times.
The Wind Waker features a twist in not only graphics but also in the story of Zelda itself.
The graphics are much more funny, but are very detailed. The gameplay it's self is so great that it is incredible that they could fit so much stuff on such a small disc.
At times you will feel frustrated because you overlook things that don't seem very important, but they are.
Overall, you will play this game for hours, and in some cases a whole night! It's just that good.
TWO THUMBS UP TO ZELDA THE WIND WAKER!!!

There it is this game is a buy for Zelda fans but a game you will want to rent for a long time.
P.S. Finding all of the triforce shards is harder than god knows what.
A very worthy game to be called part of the Zelda Franchise.

Pros:
Great Gameplay
Enough similarities to the older Zeldas without being the same game.
Good replay value
Expansive world with plenty to explore and lots of side missions
Cons:
Yes, cell shaded animation looks like poo, but you'll get over it quick
Very PG/characters and target audience is very young.
Link still refuses to talk.

Other than that, this game sort of does have the main Zelda elements to it. There is just too much new stuff that makes it feel 75% less mature.
Twilight Princess is at least 60% better than this one. If you want more Zelda, and have beaten all of the other ones, this game shouldn't be skipped. Not playing this game isn't going to hurt the story line for you at all. You'll want to beat Ocarina of Time, before playing this game to get the most out of it.

Definitely worth playing if you're a Zelda fan, but I doubt it's the kind of game you'll be coming back to again and again.

Good, But Don't Expect a Classic Zelda Experience
posted by Yizznusno (GALVESTON, TX) Apr 23, 2007

It is important to note that from most of the console Zelda games I have played this one really deviates from the traditional Zelda style on what can be considered crucial points.
1. No more running around on the grassy plains of Hyrule, the world is covered in water which leads to a rather tedious traveling experience where the novelty of it wears off quickly.
2. My biggest complaint with this game lies in the later half (I'll try to avoid giving anything huge away) of the game where they toss a sizable roadblock in the way of advancing through the storyline that really isn't part of the Zelda style and was enough to get me to stop playing altogether.
Outside of these two issues I did find it to be a fun game that is still worth renting (even if you don't finish it). The graphics are well done and do a good job at highlighting a sense of humor that is usually very understated or nonexistent in other Zeldas. While the creators try a lot of new things in this Zelda most of them do a good job at introducing some new ideas into the franchise that you will see repeated in the games that came after it because they work so well.

Game geared towards those under 14 yrs. old

However, due to the cell shaded graphics involved this one simply feels much more kiddie and far less serious. Which is a major drawback for us adult players!
Story, which typically is the strong point of the Zelda series, is much more simplistic this time around. Again, this is geared towards a younger audience.
Zelda, while still a quality franchise, definitely needs a complete overhaul if it wishes to continue to keep an audience over 14 yrs. old. Keep in mind, the fans that have been playing Zelda since the NES are well into their 30's now and expect the series to evolve and mature with them. Otherwise, Nintendo will have to abandon these loyal fans and start over. They are losing me very quickly and many others as well.
The next major Zelda game will be it for me if Nintendo goes this childish route again.
Overall: Good game but ONLY for the young age group. Anyone over 14 is better off playing many other games.

when I say this game is not good.
Good:
New weapons
That's all I can think of.
Bad:
Graphics
Bosses
Sailing.
This is not a bad game. What I really Disliked
was the sailing. It's very repetitive and boring.
The bosses also didn't have their own flavor. Many
were copied from other Zelda titles.
I don't know why people say this game deserves a 10. It deserves an 8 at the most.
A good game is one that you can beat more than once and it won't get boring.
If you're just starting thr Zelda series then I reccomend this one.
If not. Meh...
