The game was very good. The controls yes, sadly get really frustrating and are hard to get used to. Don't get fooled by the other reviews because the only other bad thing in the game is whenever you attack a dragon, one of the battle types is to line up on the side of him and smack him by using the contoller. OMG>>>>SUCKS!
I heard many of the bad reviews too and I was worried that this would be yet another disappointing game. Despite getting used to the flawed control system, I have enjoyed every minute of this game. It's a challenge, but very enjoyable. Definitely a sight to see in 1080p!
But it certainly is a poor execution in action gaming, that is for sure. While I gave it a 4, I can say that with a little more time, this would have been far better, maybe even GotY
Controls are really sluggish and somewhat plotted incorrectly, at least compared to some other action games that this takes after. While tilting the sixaxis ins't bad, having to quickly move the controller to the left and right in order to ram into your opponent is sloppy, as well as turning a 180.
Attacking is certainly an issue, as there is no real way to target your enemy. Some have compared this to a possible successor to Panzer Dragoon, but that game had a lock on it and was easier to play. In the end, it turns out to be a button masher without so much of the combos that one has come to expect from this genre.
Attacking on the ground is slightly better, but it is still suffers from controller lag. Everything about the core of this game reeks of slop, sadly.
The only positive are some of the landscaping and plot devices. It certainly could use a bit more polishing as things tend to get lost in the haze of battle, but some might argue that is a part of war itself.
Really, because this is a clearly rushed project, it is not worth your time and effort. I would steer clear of this and wait until 2008 to see what the PS3 might have to offer.
