I'll be one of the first to admit that I positively LOVED Lego Indiana Jones. I spent hours trying to get 100% and all the achievements. Not so much with Lego Batman. Not to say that this is a bad game. It's just not as good as it could have (or should have) been.
First off: What went right. Collecting all the stuff is not only fun, but also a series of mind-bending puzzles in its own right. If only the friendly AI complied a bit more. Sigh. Also, playing as either Batman or Robin is fun, unlike the other games where you played a nobody as a sidekick.
PLUS! If you manage to stick it out, you get to play as the villains! This is by far the best reason out of many to keep playing the game. You'll go through the same levels, of course... but through the villains' paths, and the puzzles are vastly different. One thing I would have enjoyed, however, is to fight against the bat at the end of the villain levels. Oh well.
The bad: The friendly AI is beyond terrible. So bad, in fact, that some puzzles are almost impossible to do alone. In fact, one of the fights requires the use of both players and the AI simply REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING USEFUL. Granted, you can quickly switch between players... but when your partner in crime (or crime fighting as the case may be) simply follows you no matter what, it can prove frustrating beyond belief.
Bottom line: Great addition to the series, but best if played with a friend. Not alone. Definitely worth at least one play through, however.
This game is very entertaining. Even though the story is very cookie cutter I found myself enjoying the entire game. What I liked the most about the game is that you play as caped crusader for one half of the game and then you get to go and play all the villains that you just sent back to the insane asylum. The villain boards that you finish set up the batman boards that you previously did. The only gripe I have about the game is that there is no online co-op. All games that come out for the Xbox 360 should have some sort of online feature to them period.
I don't know what's so appealing about playing Lego games vs using 'real' characters, but it works, especially in batman. The gameplay is great and the co-op lets me play with my girlfriend (she is still hurting with the two joysticks thing). The graphics are very nice and the puzzles are pretty cool too. Sometimes it can get annoying and I just want to destroy stuff...but many times that part of the puzzle!! LOL. My only complaint is that robin gets the lame upgrades like magnet boots (ooohh) and some costume that sucks up lego pieces (watch out now!!), while batman gets a hover suit and demolition suit!!! They both get more upgrades but they all follow the same vein. Nonetheless, this game was pretty nice to play and plenty of chapters so you won't be bored
