LEGO Batman that’s fun, but not fresh or original

Batman’s back with another LEGO adventure – that came out on several other systems (including the Wii) about 11 months ago.
Not a good start for LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes.
This game follows the same formula as other LEGO games: you take on several levels (there are 15 in this game). Each level has you solving puzzles using different types of Bat-suits like the one that destroys silver object or cleans up hazardous waste. Later on, you can play as other superheroes like Superman and Green Lantern.
Outside of the main story, you have the opportunity to collect gold bricks and to unlock more characters from the Batman world (Catwoman, Man-Bat, Two-Face and so on).
This is where the biggest difference between this version of the game and the others show up: In the WiiU version, you can use the Game Pad to spot where the Gold Bricks and the unlockable characters are – which makes it much easier to find them.
And the graphics and the controls are very well done. I like the look of Gotham City in the night with the rain coming down.
But the biggest problem from other LEGO games show up here – the AI controlled partner is not very smart, which can make for some very frustrating gameplay. You’re better off with another player taking the second slot.
And let’s face it – this is exactly like the other versions of the game (PS3, 360, Wii), and there’s not much that makes this version stand out. It would probably be better just to get a used copy of the Wii version of this game than to pay up $60 for LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes. RENT IT
