Fun game but could use improvements

I was expecting more of a GTA gameplay. Maybe the circle navigation map with main cases i can do, then maybe other symbols for side cases I can do as well. Possibly giving you more of a choice of being a good or dirty cop. not the case

You see a video of a murder, go gather the most obvious/basic clues, then follow up on them by interviewing people of interest. You do a lot of driving, I have gotten to the point to where I let my partner drive (if you hold triangle your partner will drive you to each location instead of you having to drive, it just simulates and you are at the place much quicker). When interrogation, you can choose whether the person is telling the truth, you have doubts, or they are lying. Very repetitive

It is broken out by cases, which is cool if you want to go back and redo a case. But i see no enjoyment going back and selecting a different option when interrogating to see how the person reacts. The story line is good for the main cases, just hoped for more GTA style of play.

I will probably do a couple more cases then return it, might beat it who knows. I would not buy this game for 60 bucks, I would rent it. I have a feeling if they make a LA Noire 2 it will be much better. Remember the first GTA's, you were a little green circle with arms coming out the side

Unlike anything you've ever played

Well for starts anyone who has played Heavy Rain will see the similarities between the two, being that you get the option to interrigate witnesses and the better you do at questioning the more they reveal. But that's where the similarites end. LA Noire, is an open world of old school L A, you can take side missions if you want while driving around or stick to the case at hand. I find that each new case is like being able to play a video game version of a mixture of clue, twlight zone and nypd blue. It's very addicting, but beware some cases take a while to go through so make sure you have ample time to video game because it's never really the same if you have to pick it up in the middle after a save, nor will you want to. This game is unlike anything I've ever played and I hope that the network puts out more cases to solve that can be downloaded.

I have no finished this game yet, however I am certainly enjoying it more than I thought I would. I knew the hype was up there for this game, but I'm never fully sold on Rockstar's games. The GTA series were always enjoyable but I just never got that into them. Red Dead Redemption was one of the biggest and best surprises for me. I didn't expect it to be half as good as it was. That said, I went into this game not expecting too much and so far it has been great.

The story is very interesting, several layers of possible conspiracies, serial killings, etc. The characters are totally believable thanks to some great writing as well as the new facial recognition technology. I feel very immersed in 1940's era Los Angeles.

A few gameplay elements aren't as well rounded as you would like, but they never hyped up the gunfighting elements or anything so it can be excused.

Apart from the main story, the side missions are somewhat lacking. Many feel repetitive at times, chasing baddies on foot or engaging in the same shootouts just at different locales. This makes me feel as though there won't be much replayability for me. I do like the fact I can replay cases whenever I want once I've finished them to try for 5 stars rather than have to start a new game and go through the story again.

I really like the cases. The girlfriend and I are big Law and Order fans and it almost feels like I'm participating in an episode. Love doing the detective work, love questioning witnesses/suspects and interrogating them. It can be very difficult at times to read them but they do a great job of also using the facial recognition so you can use the suspects facial responses and actions to determine a lie when you see one.

One issue I have that is popping up more, this game makes my playstation run incredibly loud. It must be putting a load on the system, while it doesn't appear in the game itself, my hardware is definitely running hot.

Giving it an 8 due to replayability issues.
