For those who think that this is a GTAesque game because it came from rockstar, and want this game because they think its like GTA, be prepared to be disappointed. Yes, I was one who thought that this game was gonna be a 1940's version of GTA as far as gameplay is concerned. You're a cop, so you should already know you won't be doing drug deals or stealing cars, but the open world experience that some of us love and are familiar with does not exist in this game. You get nothing but a main storyline mission to follow, and one type of side mission, period. The main storyline is the same thing over and over again: go to crimescene, discover clues, interview witnesses and/or suspects. The one type of side mission you get is while you are driving, a call will come over the radio of some crime in progress, and you decide whether or not to respond. Its the same thing over and over again here too, shoot, chase down criminals. You don't get to go to restaurants and eat, drink, you don't go to stores to pick out your wardrobe, and you don't date girls or hang out with your pals. This game didn't have to be exactly like gta, but there should have been more to do besides the things I mentioned. I got maybe halfway through and started playing Fable 2 for the first time, and forgot all about L.A. Noire. One great thing about gamefly is that I didn't have to spend $60+ for it, and I can play it when I get ready. The only good thing about this game is the facial expressions of the people in the game. I woulda gave this game a 1, but I've been a fan of rockstar for a while, and that extra point is for all the good times I've had with their PREVIOUS games.

The cover system and camera can get you killed, but it is a fun game if you don't mind doing the same thing over again. The free roaming can be boring. The story is what motivates, and to see what happens next. The only thing your choices change is how correct you are in getting all the facts and clues.

I liked the game the story was Great, the setting of early LA was sweet, but it was very repetitive the side missions were horrible and when in doubt choose "doubt" facial expressions = Truth pretty easy to see they look like a 5 yr old who swears the truth without breaking eye contact. The other two really is all evidence based and with some cases GOOD LUCK linking that evidence to the BS.

That being said it took me about 30hours to complete and that incl. sides but I would have liked it much better if it were 15 hours
