Fantastic Game

This game is not for the faint of heart or mind.

That being said, it's a wholly original gamestyle that is completely worth learning and playing. The story is a bit on the japanese side, but many gamers enjoy that these days, so it's not a negative experience. The story isn't the real reason to play the game though

The game is.

This game fuses tactics roleplaying game style with shooter dodging and includes ways to micromanage your players and inventories to make for a completely different gaming and strategizing styles than I have ever seen before. It -does- have a several hour learning curve, and really learning your character class styles is necessary for a fully immersive experience.

But for those people who haven't seen something new from the gaming world in years:

This is what you've been waiting for.

Incredible Strategy RPG

This has got to be one of the most unique strategy RPGS I have ever played. I love strategy RPGS to begin with, but I have to be honest, they were starting to get stale. Not so with this gem. This game takes traditional tactics and turns them on its head. This has to be one of the most innovative games I have ever played. The game is very, very deep and complex, but not so complex to actually confuse you. Sure, you have to learn the hour tutorial first, but trust me, once you do - you will feel like I did - blown away. What a breath of fresh air. Don't even rent this, just buy it. I got lucky to rent it and I just bought it today.

A Masterpiece; Worth the Effort

I do not have to go into the details of the game here, as they have been described in other reviews, but count me in as a believer in this game!

When you first approach the game, do not just start a new game and jump in. First, you need to read each "First Steps" and "Tutorial" section by selecting "Teaching" at the start menu. You will seriously not know what to do if you jump right in. Even better, go to the official Knights in the Nightmare page at (atlus website slash knights) to view the four company-supplied tutorial videos.

It's a lot of work to get into this game, but it is worth the effort. The way the story is told is unique, the art style is amazing, and the soundtrack, while small, is phenomenally written. Once you get the system down, you separate tactics from the "bullet h---" action - all tactics are done when you set up the map, and the action takes place during the actual battle, representing DoDonPachi much more than Ogre Battle.

Good luck to you when this arrives in the mail. If you put forth the work, you will be hooked on this game until it's all over.
