Kirby: Canvas Curse was the first DS came to prove to people that the touch screen can be used for things other than gimmicks. You ONLY use the touch screen in this game and nothing else. The game takes a while to get used to after that it's drawing rainbow paths and working your way through the maze like levels. Other than drawing rainbows you can hit certain enemies to get special powers which you can use to gain access to certain parts of levels or as a weapon. The mini-games in here are very fun and Kirby takes a different approach to boss fights. At the end of each level you get to choose between 3 different mini-games: Draw shapes, Block attack (think Super Breakout but you draw the paddle where you need it), and a race type game. After you beat each mini game you go up to level 2 then 3 then you can play it in the Sub Games in the main menu. Another cool feature is that you can collect coins in the main game to unlock special things such as songs, different styles of ink for your rainbow, new mini games and so on. The main downfall to this game though is it gets so repetitive by the 6th level. There are only 8 levels but by the 6th one I just stopped and didn't continue. It's the same thing over and over again. Draw this path here, kill this foe, collect these stars, solve this puzzle, repeat...a lot. This doesn't mean the game is boring or not fun. The game keeps you on the edge and is very fun. The other downfall is that the touching isn't very responsive when it comes to touching Kirby to make him do attacks. This makes you have to restart when you didn't need to due to dying so much. Also the physics are weird especially when underwater. All in all Kirby: Canvas Curse is a great DS game and one of the most innovative on the handheld. This is also recommended to ALL ages not just kids. I should also mention there is like no story what-so-ever so Kirby freaks don't get excited.
