Where Oblivion Failed Reckoning Soars

I've seen this compared to Oblivion but it's FAR better. This is the game I hoped for when I got Oblivion. The ability to create your own class and the re-playability of trying different classes.. Reckoning and Oblivion both do that..Simple menu system check.. But with Reckoning the gameplay and combat are far superior. The character animations are realistic and the graphics are much better. The combat controls flow so much better.

The only reason this doesn't get a 10 is that the skill tree is lacking quite a bit, I would like to see some skills that up your attack power or speed. Also the story really isn't that engaging, which to me is the least important part of a game but I know RPG fans put alot of stock in it.

Bottom line if you like ACTION RPG's that actually know how to mix the Action and the RPG elements well, the give KOA Reckoning a shot.

I'm not a fan of Fantasy RPGs

but this one isn't too bad mainly because of the excellent combat system. What I played of it was better than Skyrim for me, but no Elders Scroll and no Dragon Age Origins, the only two fantasy RPG's I ever really enjoyed. Unfortunately, I got stuck on this in the Hunting the Hunter quest because for some reason I could not shatter the artifact and the mirrors. I don't know if it was a bug or something I did wrong.

I don't think the contrived story was interesting nor the graphics very good. The combat is the reason I gave it as much as a 7.

Not bad, but not quite great.

If you're more of a hardcore RPG fan like me, this isn't what you're looking for. On the other hand, it does tell a nice story. And has some good voice acting in the cut-scenes. I found myself quite bored a few hours into it. If you like games like Elder Scrolls, The Witcher, Dragon Age or even Mass Effect; this is a bit beneath you. It's a lot more like Fable 2 or 3 (but not like Fable 1). It actually looks a lot like those games graphically. The combat is fun, with a lot of variety in your moves. But even that didn't keep me interested. I sent it back after only two days with it. I guess it is worth a rent for the curious. Especially if you're the type of gamer who likes to take it easy and get overly involved in your games. I on the other hand prefer a deeper experience.
