Very Good

A very fun game crafted with love

This is by no means the best RPG created. But it is very fun. The story can be lacking and was not what I expected from R.A. Salvatore. But its keeps you interested enough. You can tell this game was created with a lot of love. The scenery is gorgeous. The characters are well made, the animations are fluid. And the battle system is a BLAST! The funnest part of this game is no doubt the fighting, leveling up and becoming a godlike being. Everything here works very well. The alchemy, lockpicking, weapon crafting. Its all very similar to the Elder scrolls series. Everything else about the game is completely different though.

The characters and magic system remind me of Fable. The world and quest system are similar to WoW. The combat is lifted from God of War. Like Darksiders, this game takes a lot of tried and true elements from other games and combines them into a solid and immensely fun experience (a very long one too). Just dont go in expecting something groundbreaking and new.

I would give it an 8.5 but there are no fractions here.

Be all you can be

A great game with lots of replayability. Not only can you tailor your avatar to take on the persona and style you prefer, at almost any point of the game, you can reset your skills and refashion them to meet different challenges. Start off as a thief and chage to be a wizard, or a brutal tank. or mix and match for combinations or the best of all three. On PS3 the controls are fluid and control is precise, making combat combos and action/animation as much fun to watch as to play. The quests and side tasks are numerous and interesting. the variety of weapons and armor keep you searching for the best combinations. ability to modify both with gem upgrades through sagecrafting definetly give you an advantage, even over the bosses. Definetly a game I can return to and play again and again just to try out the different styles/skills.

Don't discount this just because "it'

I normally don't write reviews, but in this case I felt that it was necessary. I'm currently about 20 hours into this game after picking it up on Friday (which says something about it by itself since I tend to have a hard time dedicating time to a game) and so far I am extremely impressed.

- Great combat for an RPG (think God of War). Not as in-depth as an action/adventure, but still fast and exciting enough to keep you engaged.
- Interesting main plot
- Almost too much content (20 hours in and I just moved to the second major area in the game)
- Ability to switch weapons mid-combo and throw in spells and abilities on the fly
- Flexibility in character advancement is impressive and varied

- Almost too much content
- Speed of combat can sometimes cause framerate drops
- Lore, though impressive in it's scope, doesn't necessarily lend itself well to main plot or to the idea of building further games in the franchise. Still good, but doesn't tie together too well.

Overall, it's an amazing game from an amazing team and I'm excited to see a sequel be it on video, in video game form, or novel form. The team that put this thing together has alot of room to be able to expand the Kingdoms of Amalur universe exponentially. A must play imho.
