It was hard for me to decide whether to give this game a 6 or an 8. For the kingdom hearts fans with a DS I'm sure you're going to pick up this game no matter what I tell you so this is review is for those who are curious about Kingdom Hearts. First of all if you haven't played the first Kingdom Hearts or it's sequel Chain of Memories you're probably not going to know whats going on, in fact even if you've played every single Kingdom Hearts title you'll probably still be lost, however don't let this scare you away from the series, it's supposed to leave you with more questions than answers. It's upcoming sequels are supposed to answer those questions and who knows maybe leave you with more questions.Anyway I'm not going to go into the story too much but you're basically playing a boy named Roxas who you'll be controlling over a time span of about a year, hence the title and I'll just leave you with that. I just want to say that this game's story is both slow and repetitive yet worth the payoff towards the end. I mean I dare you to do a push-up everytime they eat icecream in this game. I know it's supposed to be symbolic but my gawd someone should at least lose all those calories, good luck not passing out before the end. And if I have to hear the Halloweentown theme one more time in Kingdom Hearts i'm going to flip. And the gameplay is just as repetitive as the story. Hey do 5 jumping jacks everytime you're sent to collect hearts. Now I'm not entirely bashing the game, like I said towards the end I felt for the characters, in fact the ending made a lot of people cry. I doubt you would reach that point if you aren't a hardcore fan but it's worth checking out. I'll give this Kingdom Hearts game a 7. Pros? Gripping ending, great graphics for a DS game, fills in missing blanks for the series..Cns? Camera is clunky/terrible, repetitive missions, a weak Roxas, boring heartless bosses, inferior gameplay overall compared to most of the series.
