It is what it is...

It is odd that this should be my first review, but after reading several reviews that were pretty harsh I thought i should add my 2 cents.
You will read in other reviews how the game has 8 bit graphics and the sound pops and fizzles (i had no trouble with sounds at all) and while the graphics may look old school, that's true to the style of the game.
True fans of the series will be amused for hours as they experiment with the different special moves and play the different characters. The people that put in the effort to learn all the moves in games prior will be pleasantly surprised in this game, as the time spent is not wasted. The controls are familiar and fluid, and timing is still a huge factor.
This game was not touted as the next big thing. Its not groundbreaking or revolutionary. Its not even spectacular or a must have, but its true to the series and this girl had a lot of fun with it. Its another chapter in the story, and at the same time if you've never played a KoF game you'll be able to sit with a few friends for some good old fashioned button mashing fun.
I gave the game a 9 and I think it deserves it. Something has to be said for integrity. KoF didn't try and jazz up its game to please the graphics whores, or change the game play to try and 'freshen up' its formula. It is what it is, and its not ashamed of it. It stands boldly in the face of the current game lineup and says 'I am KoF and i don't care what you think!' and I love that.
