Killer is Dead is decent as an action game. It's similar in play to games such as Devil May Cry or Ninja Gaiden...you're a dude that's put in various levels killing a whole lot of baddies. It's Suda-51 so you know what you're getting here.
The game itself isn't bad, I would describe it as serviceable. A few issues with screen tearing, wonky camera, and collision detection persist throughout the game, but overall...serviceable. It looks great though, the art style works very well here.
The best thing about Killer is Dead is that it doesn't overstay its welcome. I completed the game in around 3.5 hours, but I skipped about 95% of the cutscenes. For good reason as the story in the game is seedy and not flattering towards women. Example: Outside of the main story missions, there are "Gigolo" Missions in which you essentially gawk at a half naked female. Blech, no thanks.
If you're willing to skip the story and play the game, I'd recommend giving this one a shot. It's a few hours of fun, but limit your expectation.

I gave this title a very generous 6. Sadly I had been waiting for this underground title to release and was very disappointed in its presentation. Although the artwork was more than impressive, with its cell-shaded like animations, the storyline does not hold up very well. The plot itself has too many holes in it and has a very touch-and-go feel as you complete each episode. Even the combat engine leaves much to be desired. Its almost like a very poor attempt at emulating the combat system from Metal Gear Rising, a title I encourage anyone to play if you want a satisfying alternative hack-n-slash. Overall I would definitely give this title another shot if a sequel were attempted but with an all too biased opinion. With its many downfalls the game does offer enough substance to complete the game however I was almost excited to seal this and send it back.
