I had a lot of hope for Justice League heroes. I'm an avid watcher of Justice League/Justice League Unlimited, and because of that I have a few expectations. 1) Superman is unstoppable...pure and simple. 2) Batman can take on anything. 3) Bad guys are dumb, but not dumb enough to take on the whole league by themselves...no matter how much money is at stake.
With that said, we turn to the game. If you've played either of the Xmen games, the Baulder's Gate games (for the consoles), or Untold Legends for the PSP, then you've played the majority of this game. Several players (check), special powers that are upgradeable (check), bad/repetitious voice acting (check, minus Ron Perlman as Batman), hordes of bad guys mindlessly throwing themselves at you (check). Overall, it's a rehash of what's been done. However, what should save it is what "can be" done with the justice league. Unfortunately, that's where it falls short.
The game is relatively short, and only really has a few hidden characters. These characters can be opened in level one with no penalty(good old gamefaqs), or you can spend two or three play-thru's getting them. With the lack of money (other than opening characters) or items, the only way to improve your character is leveling or random power-up drops that you can combine to improve stats. Another good feature is the fact that you can make a dream team-up. But as the game doesn't have any decent banter between the two characters, it's kind of lost.
All in all, it's a decent game. I got to play the heroes I wanted, smashed bad guy face, and enjoyed several hours doing so. I expected more, and I guess that's why this is so disappointing. If you enjoy all super hero games, play this one. If your looking for a really good party RPG/action game, try either of the Xmen, or the new Marvell Ultimate Alliance...even though DC has better super heroes.
