Justice League is very entertaining

While nothing more than a rehash beat 'em up in the overhead style of Gauntlet and the much more recent X-men Legends, Justice League mixes up the action fairly well with a variety of superheroes and action moves. As long as you ignore the fact that Superman isn't made of very strong stuff (the man of steel's invincibility to everything except Kryptonite seems to be pushed aside with a casual line from Batman "These weapons can even hurt you, Superman") the characters perform well compared to each other and all have strengths and weaknesses.

The enjoyment comes from a satisfying blend of action (albeit with a few collision detection problems) and unlockable moves and extra characters. It's important to note that on the first run thru, you should always use the characters that are already unlocked or you could find yourself using (and then dying with) a level 4 character alongside a level 12-15 when not allowed a better choice later on down the chapters. The unlockable characters add replay value with only a couple doubling up on previously explored abilities.

All in all, a good game worth a rent...

The super heroes you love...with but nothing new

I had a lot of hope for Justice League heroes. I'm an avid watcher of Justice League/Justice League Unlimited, and because of that I have a few expectations. 1) Superman is unstoppable...pure and simple. 2) Batman can take on anything. 3) Bad guys are dumb, but not dumb enough to take on the whole league by matter how much money is at stake.

With that said, we turn to the game. If you've played either of the Xmen games, the Baulder's Gate games (for the consoles), or Untold Legends for the PSP, then you've played the majority of this game. Several players (check), special powers that are upgradeable (check), bad/repetitious voice acting (check, minus Ron Perlman as Batman), hordes of bad guys mindlessly throwing themselves at you (check). Overall, it's a rehash of what's been done. However, what should save it is what "can be" done with the justice league. Unfortunately, that's where it falls short.

The game is relatively short, and only really has a few hidden characters. These characters can be opened in level one with no penalty(good old gamefaqs), or you can spend two or three play-thru's getting them. With the lack of money (other than opening characters) or items, the only way to improve your character is leveling or random power-up drops that you can combine to improve stats. Another good feature is the fact that you can make a dream team-up. But as the game doesn't have any decent banter between the two characters, it's kind of lost.

All in all, it's a decent game. I got to play the heroes I wanted, smashed bad guy face, and enjoyed several hours doing so. I expected more, and I guess that's why this is so disappointing. If you enjoy all super hero games, play this one. If your looking for a really good party RPG/action game, try either of the Xmen, or the new Marvell Ultimate Alliance...even though DC has better super heroes.

Not So Good After All

The only way I can respond to this is if you like DC comics then you'll appreiate playing this game. Although after playing Marvel's Ultimate Alliance there is no way I could even play Justice League for more than 5 minutes before turning it off. The graphics need alot of improvement, the game play is easy enogh but it just doesnt have enough going on in it to make you not get bored and tired of doing the same thing over and over. In fact the only reason I gave it a 4 rating is because of having the ability to use the league at your finger tips but thats not enough to buy or rent this game. I suggest borrowing it from one of your friends instead.
