This title could have been a home run for bargain bin games but due to obviously lazy development and/or production it is missing some vital elements to make it long lasting.

First off, there is NO online play at all. No deathmatch, no co-op, nothing. This DESTROYS any desire to own this game, making it an instant renter right off the bat.

The second point is directly related to this first point: survivor mode. Survivor mode is an awesome idea, borrowed from Horde mode in Gears of War 2 or Firegfight from Halo ODST. But with no option to play co-op, playing by yourself gets real old real fast.

The GFX and gameplay, including weapons and adrenaline mode are surprisingly good. I found the weapons and animations used for them to be pretty great. But with a single player-only game you get almost mad that you can't share the experience with anyone else.

Overall, it's purely a renter, though if you didn't rent you really won't miss much.

I am normally critical of most games I play, because my standards in gaming are probably unrealistically high. Still, JURASSIC: THE HUNTED is easily one of the five best games I have ever played on any console.

What I appreciate most is the authenticity. Game developers clearly worked with a well-researched paleontology team to create the most realistic dinosaur experience possible. Dinosaur models are true to fossil records, and their movement looks consistent with common understandings of the mesozoic era.

Beyond dinsoaurs, the weapon collection is second to none. Never before have modern rifles like the FN-SCAR blended with Civil War-era muzzle-loaded rifles so beautifully. To top it off, there is some kind of plasma-shooting weapon that is as close to the real thing as I've ever seen.

As real as JURASSIC is, it doesn't skimp on the fun factor. The game offers at least three different dinosaur death animations, keeping the experience constantly fresh. If you're like me, you'll be blown away after the 2.5 hour campaign marathon, but still, you'll be chomping at the bit for more (pun intended!). Lucky for you, the game offers plenty of replay value. For instance, I replayed the game by walking instead of sprinting, and I plan to go through it crouching as well. I am also planning a playthrough shooting dinosaurs with the shotgun instead of the pistol. The options are limited only by your imagination.

In short, not to play this game is not to realize the full potential of your Xbox, and indeed the full potential of your life. JURASSIC is truly a once-in-a-generation experience. Click the rent button.

You will enjoy this game if it is the only one you own and you are under the age of 4
