Not a Good Debut for Brash

Yeah, a movie tie-in game for a terrible movie. That is exactly what I was looking for. And it's released by Brash, who has an amazing capacity to buy worthless licenses (their "big" license is a forthcoming Saw IV game). Jumper is about a group of teleporters who are fighting people who can't teleport.

I'll say this --- the control is not bad. Not great, but not bad. Since you can teleport constantly, you decide whether to appear and hit an enemy in the front, back, right, or left side. And the special kills are really cool. You teleport somebody into a car just before it gets crushed, you teleport another into a nuclear fusion reactor, you teleport another into a volcano. A really cool little idea. And these are the only things about the game that is not bad.

First off, the levels are linear. There is minimal exploration possible, not that you'd want to. And the level design is not dissimilar to a 3D0 game's layout. It funnels you right to the next area. And the teleport powers for non-fights are borderline superfluous. There are two moments where teleporting somewhere else is beneficial to you to advance the story.

The game looks like a PS1 attempt at a 3D platformer. The characters are laughably cobbled together and their animation is sketchy --- which makes the occasional slowdown all the more baffling. I mean, if a guy is going to have graphics to make the original Tomb Raider look decent in comparison, a smooth framerate just isn't too much to ask if you ask me.

One of the problems is that the game is insanely short. The first time through, when you're learning the game and finding stuff --- you'll take about 2 hours to complete it. The 2d time through, when you know how to play and are looking for few small things, it will take you less than 40 minutes to finish.

And, to demonstrate it's not my opinion on the lack quality --- the developers, who made Loony Tunes Acme Arsenal list that game on their site, but not this one. Ouch.

Tedious, just one saving grace.

Graphics: Xbox Quality
Gameplay: Frustrating in practice
Sound: Voice acting is the saving grace of the game
Presentation: No customization

The only reason to play this game is for the easy achievements!

This would have passed for an early PS2 game

Graphics are horrible. It could pass for an early PS2 game.

The gameplay is so simple a monkey could do it. Press X, A, B and Y. That's it.

You get Achievements every 5 seconds worth 50g each, and that's the only reason it gets a 1.

The cutscenes are still images. Yes, still.

The voice acting is terrible. Not only do they sound extremely scripted and just bad, but they have HORRIBLE fake Irish accents.

Get this game if you want an easy 500-1000 gamerpoints. I played for about an hour, an hour and a half and I got 550. I got something to eat, and I couldn't muster up the will power to continue it. It's horrible.

Other than Achievements, the only thing this game would be useful for is microwaving to see the pretty lights.
