Good Art, but no Gameplay

I realize videogames are different things to different people. And that is fine. But to me, gameplay is king. Give me Super Meat Boy over almost anything else.
After seeing all the game of the year awards for Journey, I decided to give it a try. If you are a gamer like me, do NOT buy into the hype. It is equivalent to sitting in a dark room with a stranger, watching Fantasia while holding up on the Left Stick.
It is beautiful; no doubt about it. Again, that is not something I value in a videogame when there is no gameplay to give it meaning.
I can enjoy a good story when it comes augments gameplay (eg Portal 2). The story here is arguably life (or whatever else you interpret it to mean) but unless you are enthralled by games with no gameplay, you'll be checking Twitter while the game takes itself very serious at its leisure. Two hours later it's over and you'll have no desire to try the other games on the disk.
