The series takes a hard left turn with my favorite chapter of the Precursor Legacy. Jak, Daxter, Samos, and Kiera have discovered a large Precursor artifact which, when activated, transports them to the dystopian futuristic Haven City, so named because its walls protect its citizens from dangerous bio-mechanical beasts called metalheads which have overrun the world. Jak is captured, and subject to two years of torturous dark eco experiments under the tyrannical Baron Praxis before he is discovered and set free by Daxter. Jak's experience has changed him dramatically; he is no longer a cheerful adventurer, but rather a vengeful antihero, angry and cynical. Equipped with an advanced piece of heavy artillery--which can be upgraded to transform into various modes of fire--as well as some newly acquired dark eco abilities (courtesy of Praxis), Jak sets out on a mission to take out the Baron, for his own satisfaction as well as the salvation of the city. The games graphics have been nicely polished; the animation is better than ever, and the voice acting is just as excellent as in the first. The environments, which are what helped make the first game a winner, are just as intriguing, if not more so. This game is longer, and more challenging. It is much more satisfying than the first, which left me begging for more. It has a dark and serious feel, which was entirely unexpected after playing the first, and is more action oriented. If you liked Jak and Daxter, or if you just like action/adventure games in general, then this one is worth looking into. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I really didn't expect the game to be this good, I was looking for something else at the time, and I am sure glad I got this...
Never played the first one, thought it was too childlike...and I still haven't! (what does that say about my character...)
The game started a touch slow, but I loved the cutscenes; the animation was great, and superb voice acting. Once you get your first gun though, things heat up. After that, you get all sorts of fun stuff to do, like jetboarding and some, shall we say, less honest work.
Story was great, lots of surprises, and the gameplay was seamless as well. Only problem was the size of Haven City... I spent literally half of my time trying to get to where I was going before I realized I went the wrong way :P
Anyway, its a great game, recommended for anyone who likes shooters/action adventure/platform... and anything inbetween, 'cause Jak 2 has it all!
First things first. The gameplay is solid. Punching, shooting, and ramming. They all work great! Even driving is fantastic. This is sometimes ruined by over accurate AI and other people in cars who don't ever see you driving in front of them. If you think this is alright with you, give it a try.
The graphics are beautiful. The map is enormous and it's totally free-roaming! You can go back to any old areas whenever you want. Since they're so huge, you'll be very happy to know this. You can even approach any objective in any order you want!
The story is good and not typical for the genre. You play as Jak wanting revenge after the evil Baron Praxis tortures you for two years. It's pretty boring, right? No! There are plenty of twists and hooks to keep you interested for years!
