Jade Empire is the best RPG ever, but KOTOR is better. However Jade Empire has everything needed to be as good as KOTOR. The combat system is pretty good. The level ups are pretty good to as you can unlock new moves throughout the game. The music is very good and relates to the game. The levels are very open-ended. I even like the good guy, bad guy thing. The graphics are pretty nice. You can travel to different places using the Dragonfly ship. I think this RPG is awonsome. That is why Jade Empire deserves a 10 out of 10.
This is just one of those games that, when you get it, you can't put it down until it's over. You could easily lose 30 hours and a week of your life to this game and not feel at all bad about it. Incredible real-time combat, amazing story, open ended gameplay, beautiful soundtrack, anything and everything you could want in a great RPG, this game has it and more.
Let's start with the combat system. If you are one of those people who get bored with RPG's because of the long, dull, turn-based combat, then have no fear, because this game uses real-time combat. That translates into fast and exciting action that puts the battles in your hand instead of leaving what many consider to be the meat of any good game, the fighting, up to random number generators in the game. Which is a very good thing because, if you are going to have a game that takes place in a land where martial arts and magic are the only ways of fighting, it would be a huge mistake to not let the player experience that.
This game's world is not as big as say, Morrowind, or even maybe KOTOR, but it is easily one of the, if not the most beautiful game worlds I have ever seen. Not only is it stunningly gorgeous, but it also has the ability to be incredibly dark and creepy, which is probably just as important a feature. This game also has a superbly well written story. Bioware certainly lives up to the standards they gave us with KOTOR, because as great as the story is, it has just as great a cast of voices to populate it, notably, those of your companions. As you make your way through the game, you will find all sorts of interesting side-quests, from something small like helping a man find his wife, to something big like becoming the champion of the imperial arena.
This is a wonderful game that will provide hours of fun for any gamer. If you're looking for a quick action fix, go play Halo 2. But if you want to feel like you are a part of something bigger than yourself, play Jade Empire.
