One of Playstation's Hits for a Good Reason

Every game tends to get those reviews from people who give it a 1/10 on Gamefly. You know a game is truly good when the bulk of those reviews are just subjective one-liners such as "this game is garbage, end of story" or "lame!" That and a few people endlessly whining about how they couldn't beat certain parts of the game or how they're taking it out on the game because they received a defective disk. Sure enough that pretty much describes all the negative reviews on this game as well.
Story:
Let me put it this way, there is a rumored Infamous movie in the works. I would go see that movie and pray that the director and writers manage not to butcher it. The characters are memorable and the story is interesting enough to keep your attention. It manages to progress similarly to a super hero origin story without feeling forced. Can't really ask for much more from a video game's story.
Game play:
Its an odd mix of a sandbox, third-person shooting, action game and it works really well. Cole feels like a superhero but not so overpowered that it makes the game play a bore. Third-person shooting with something other than a weapon was a really unique experience and I wish more games would do that. I wish buildings were destructible and Cole could enter them and cars, but maybe that'll be in the third game of the series.
Lasting value:
Empire City gives the player a lot to do. Like most sandbox games you can do side quests or just wreak havoc.
Graphics:
They're passable, but nothing spectacular. Infamous 2 is really a huge step above this, but its not bad either.
